EFT:
Emotional Freedom Techniques

In 2009 I trained as a practitioner in Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT). This is one of the most amazing therapies I have ever experienced. It seems to be helpful with many emotional issues (even severe phobias) and can also help to clear physical symptoms. In my view it works so well because it is truly holistic in nature, working with both the body and mind at the same time to allow release of trauma, stress and stored tension. It is also very empowering for the client, as I will teach you a simple but powerful tapping sequence to use for yourself at home.

EFT is a form of energy medicine or energy psychology. Over the last decade it has become increasingly well known and is apparently used by doctors of international renown such as Deepak Chopra and Norm Shealy. It can be used successfully alone or in conjunction with other therapies. EFT can help to bring to the surface and clear (forever!) emotional issues, unhelpful thought patterns, behavioural patterns and physical issues. Personally I have seen it work very well on such diverse issues as: anxiety about family problems; fear of flying; food cravings; anxiety before travelling; lack of confidence; unexplained agitation; work stress; feeling not good enough; feeling unwanted; as well as physical pain and discomfort.

The body, mind and emotions are inextricably linked. The body, therefore, is like a map of everything that has ever happened to us. It holds memories of traumatic or difficult experiences when the emotions surrounding the experience have not been fully expressed. This can create  blocks and imbalances in the body's energy systems, so in clearing the body's memories of these stressful experiences you are likely to experience much better health.

EFT is sometimes described as "emotional acupuncture" since it works on the same meridian energy system as Chinese medicine. However, instead of needles, EFT simply uses fingertip tapping. Gentle and easy! (I will teach you to do this for yourself, and believe me, it is a very useful technique to have for daily living: you can use it to help with the effects of minor annoyances as well as major issues.) While tapping on the meridians, you can verbalise the problem in a specific way which I will teach you. This allows the release of the problem from the body's energy systems.

Some of my EFT clients like to finish their session with a Reiki treatment, which is something I would encourage. Reiki has a calming, balancing effect which will support your journey with EFT and help you process any changes or new insights.

Just one EFT session can produce amazing, lasting results; however, it is usually most helpful to have a series of four or five sessions. My advice is to book your first session and if you are impressed with EFT then I will encourage you to book for a further three sessions. Remember, EFT can often clear issues where nothing else has worked - and usually it has swift, lasting effects.
